New Body of Work – America Insecure

21 04 2010

I’ve just begun a new body of work which, in maintaining  my modus operandi, is centered around one of man kinds most self destructive emotions.
Insecurity.
Lets explore some of the insecurities that plague modern man. Starting with the simple definition:

insecure (adj)

  1. anxious or afraid; not confident or certain
  2. not adequately protected
  3. unstable or shaky

Most insecure persons have managed to convince them selves, or have been convinced by others, that that they are not good enough, not smart enough, or that they can’t accomplish a task that is set before them. Just take a quick look around and you and I’m sure you can find at least on thing in your current surroundings that’s been designed to feed, or take advantage of, even your slightest insecurity.

This body of work starts with a piece titled “Moments Before Darkness,” and features the first of many appearances by Miss Dog Face Girl. One could ague that Miss Dog Face is a personification of my own insecurities. I’d agree. The work itself represents anxiety in the face of uncertainty.

Moving on.
I will be adding more work through out the year, so check back, sign up for the mailing list, all that jazz.
